Current Events In and Around
Munster and Ashton United Churches

This calendar page is provided to make you aware of church activities in our area. Included will be local fairs because they can conflict with church supper dates. It is hoped this page will provide enough information to allow local churches to effectively plan events to minimize conflict with events and similar activities at other churches.

If you would like your local church event to appear here, send me (Keith Lindsey) a message. Follow the menu at the top for Contact Us then Munster. If the event meets the criteria (generally a church event and local), I'll see about adding it. Presently my account has heavy filters on it because someone is spoofing my domain name with many messages being sent to addresses everywhere using random individual's name addresses with my domain name. Please ensure your message doesn't contain any words that you think might be filtered.

Waymarks and Guideposts

This book about the history of the Ashton-Munster Pastoral Charge; Ashton, Munster, and Prospect United Churches is available for $40 through Irma Willoughby. Compiled by Dorothy Lewis, it covers much more than just these churches. A very interesting reading for anyone with an interest in local genealogy, local churches and congregations, people in the congregations, and progress of the congregations and church buildings. Truly a reference book as well as a must read book.

Publication - The Early Ministers

This publication was written in part to celebrate the 180th anniversary of the Munster United Church congregation (2003). It also coincides with the 300th anniversary of the birth of James Wesley, the founder of Methodism.

The publication looks at the early ministers of the Rideau and Richmond Circuits and the Munster Methodist congregation. It also presents a brief study of the development of Methodism in Canada with the influences from British and American Methodism. Included is a transcription from the scroll at the back of Munster United Church of the names and dates of ministers who served our congregation from 1823 to 1923.

The United Church Women Cookbook

The cookbooks have arrived and the first printing was quickly sold out! So was the second printing, both printings because of great interest. The third printing is available. There are still a few copies left of this printing.

The cost is $10 each and all profits go toward the fine work of the UCW. To reserve a copy or purchase one, contact a member of the UCW (e.g. Fern Sample, Sandra Tubman, etc.).

The book covers many type of foods and dishes (dips and snacks; soups and salads; meats; game meats; potatoes, pastas, and beans; eggs and fish; vegetables; breads and doughs; pickles and relishes; cakes; pies; squares and desserts; cookies; muffins) and includes a special section with special recipes from our ministers, present and past.

Here's a Special Event for My High School. It is placed here in the hope that I can get classmates reconnected . Our High School held its 50th anniversary, including class reunions, on the same weekend in May 2005. It was a great success. On the evening of August 25th, 2004, I read with great interest an article, on the reunion web site, about the man after whom the school was named. I hope that some of you will seek out the article and enjoy it as much as I did.

Searching for ALL graduates of John Rennie High School

John Rennie High School, located in Pointe Claire, Quebec celebrated its 50th Anniversary May 20 - 23, 2005. Approximately, 12,500 students have passed through the doors of this school in those 50 years.
