Farewell to Tony Stuart Sunday, August 26th was the last service at which Tony Stuart, organist for seven years, played in Ashton United Church. Tony had been playing the piano faithfully for all those years and had participated in many services including anniversary services. Ashton Fall Luncheon and Bazaar Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Ashton Fall Luncheon was held on Saturday, October 22nd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and included a White Elephant table. Thank you to all who contributed items and to all who attended to make this event a success.

Results of the Combined Meeting held January 30th The congregations of Ashton UC and Munster UC met on Sunday, January 30th, 2005 for a combined meeting that was well attended. The purpose was to discern future ministry for the pastoral charge and deal with any decisions arising. David Stafford, a representative of Presbytery Pastoral Relations, chaired the meeting. He stated that Rev. Anne McKnight had requested a change of pastoral relations and we needed to start along the pastoral relations process of A Circle of Covenant. To meet our needs, Rev. Elizabeth Bryce has been appointed as our interim minister for a term to the end of June this year. Those in attendance voted to form a Joint Needs

UCW Spring Tea Bazaar and Bake Sale - Saturday, March 27th The United Church Women of Ashton United Church held a very successful Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale on Saturday, March 27th, 2004. The contributions and support from congregational members is greatly appreciated.

Pastoral Charge Planning Workshop - Saturday, Oct 18th There will be a planning workshop on Saturday, October 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Ashton United Church. It is recommended that all members of the Official Board participate. Those who are on session and stewards, heads of UCW, choir, and Sunday school are on Official Board. this workshop is open to all who are interested. You morning will start with muffins, tea, coffee, and juice. Lunch will consist of pizza (bring a little money to cover the cost of this).

Ashton Fall Bazaar - Saturday, October 25th The annual fall bazaar of the Ashton United Church will take place on October 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Members of the congregation are invited to donate crafts and baking and to attend.

Ashton Fall Bazaar The congregation of the Ashton United Church held their fall bazaar on Saturday, October 26th, 2002. it took place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and offered an interesting time for people to look at local, home-made crafts and articles, enjoy refreshments, and enjoy some good old fun. Donations of crafts and baking were greatly appreciated.

Annual Supper - May 25th Our anniversary supper on Saturday May 25th, 2002 was a great success. While we didn't see any additional visitors taking part on the Open Doors Ottawa tour of our sister church - Munster United Church, we served a great many of our members, friends, and neighbours. We enjoyed serving our turkey and ham dinners with all the fixings along with a healthy serving of fellowship. Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us.

United Church Women Bazaar The Ashton U.C.W. bazaar held on on March 23rd, 2002 was a success. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our bazaar and those who helped and staffed our event.

Blue Christmas A Blue Christmas service will be held Wednesday, December 19th, 2001 at 7:30 p.m. in Munster United Church. The service will not be lengthy. It is intended to acknowledge the fact that there are some for whom Christmas is in some way sad this year.

Dedication of Poinsettias Sunday, December 23rd, 2001 at the service we will be dedicating memorial flowers in memory of loved ones. If you would like to have a flower dedicated, purchase and bring your poinsettia plant to church for next Sunday. However, we need to know the name of the person or persons for whom they are being dedicated in order for them to be included in those names to be read. Please add the name of those being remembered to the sign-up sheet in the church and place your flowers at the front of the church.

United Church Women Christmas Program The community youth choir from Richmond will be leading the Christmas Program beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at Ashton United Church. Ladies of the congregation are always welcome to join in. The evening will conclude with a gift exchange (gifts not to exceed $5.00).

Pot Luck Lunch After Service of Lessons and Carols After the December 16th, 2001 service of lessons and carols, there will be a pot luck lunch with a helping of fellowship. The service is at 9:30 a.m.

Advent Pot Luck Supper and Church Decorating The Ashton Congregation invites you to join us for the annual pot luck supper and decorating of the church for 2001. We will gather on Friday evening, November 30th in the church. There will be pot luck dinner and the start of the decorating of the tree (lights only that night). As the Sundays progress, we will be adding decorations to complete our tree close to Christmas itself.

Operation Christmas Child The United Church Women in Ashton United Church undertook an activity in 2001 to make Christmas brighter and more exciting for children around the world who have suffered because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect. We were encouraged to fill an empty shoe box with a variety of non-perishable items. We were looking for the following types of items: small toys (e.g. small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, plastic kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, small Etch-a-Sketch, toys that light up or make noise, etc.), school supplies (e.g. pens, pencils and sharpener, crayons or markers, stamps and ink pad sets, colouring books, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, etc.), hygiene items (e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb, washcloth, shampoo sealed in plastic, etc.), hard candy, socks, small picture books, T-shirts, sunglasses,flashlights, ball caps, toy jewelry, hair-clips, watches, etc. The deadline was Sunday November 11th.
