Munster United Church Groups

Adult Choir
The prime ‘singing season’ for weekly services is from mid-September to the end of June. We average around a dozen singers including our organist Pat Lindsey. Our music resources include a good number of years of subscription to the Volunteer Choir (Lorenz Corporation) and purchase of sets of individual arrangements. Each year our organist attends at least one choral reading to keep current with the latest new music available. Sometimes one or two other members of the choir are fortunate to participate in these as well.

The choir practices Thursday evenings starting at 7:30 p.m. during our ‘singing season’. We are always looking for new members who would like to enjoy fellowship, singing good music, and potentially meeting a desire to fulfil themselves more musically or to learn a little more about music and singing. Anyone interested in singing with us or interested in finding out more about the choir and our music is invited to visit us at a practice or to speak with Pat Lindsey.

The choir has been successful in selling frozen blueberries, raspberries, and cranberries as a fund raiser for the past several years. They will be selling them again next in the late October - November time. Contact any choir member for more information or to order.

Recently the choir director released the Ten Commandments of the Munster United Choir. They read as follows:
1.   Honour the Choir Director and thine Organist: that thy days may be long upon the seats that the
Director of the Choir giveth thee.
2.   Thou shalt not take the name of the Choir Director in vain, for she will not hold him or her guiltless that taketh
        her name in vain.
3.   Thou shalt not make noise nor talk one to another when thy Choir Director speaketh.
4.   Neither shalt thou make noise or talk one to another when thy fellows singeth.
5.   Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's sheet music and shalt returneth it promptly.
6.   Remember the Thursday night, to keep it open.
7.   Thou shalt make no excuses for tardiness or absence, but shalt try thy darndest to attend faithfully and
        at the appointed hour.
8.   That night shalt thou labour, and do all thy singing.
9.   Thou shalt not conduct other business during choir practice.
10. Thou shalt not allow jocularity to interfere with thy singing.

United Church Women
At Munster United Church we have an active United Church Women's (U.C.W.) group. They meet regularly for worship studies and planning events. They hold fund raising events including an annual fund raising dinner, catering activities, and tables with baked goods and crafts at a local mall.

The U.C.W. are also dedicated to serving through regular support of groups and causes as well as support of special needs and causes as they present themselves or arise.

If you are interested in more information or participating in their activities, please contact Fern Sample.

Adult Fellowship Group - What's It
Our church's adult fellowship group is called the "What's It". It has enjoyed a large variety of activities to provide interesting circumstances and settings in which to share fellowship and have a fun, relaxing time.

The What's It has undertaken winter sleigh rides, curling, bowling, progressive dinners, a murder mystery evening, a beach party in the winter, a car rally, skiing, swimming, snowshoeing, and more.

This group is open to all members of the Ashton-Munster Pastoral Charge and it is always a pleasure to see members of our sister church in Ashton attending and enjoying themselves.

We strive to meet every four to six weeks and take a break in the summer. An integral part of the outings is the gathering at the home of a member family afterwards for a pot luck dinner (which always works out well). The emphasis of the group is on fellowship and having fun.

There are times when our activities go through a quiet period. We are in one of these periods and the Christmas supper, carol sing, and gift exchange could be just the first in a series. Please check the Events - Munster page for news about other outings.

Munster Coffee Breaks
Another community outreach activity of Munster Church is the Coffee Breaks. These are an opportunity for anyone in the area to gather and enjoy a beverage, snacks, and the fellowship of others. An open invitation is extended to women, men, moms, dads, their pre-school children, and others without children too.

Coffee Break mornings are now weekly. Interest was great in our Coffee Break mornings so we thought that people would like to gather and enjoy fellowship, make new friends, etc. on a weekly basis. Each Wednesday of the month, except during the summer, the group gathers from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. To start the school season, we gather the first time in September the week of Labour Day on the Tuesday, not Wednesday. That day is a nice transition for moms, dads, and preschoolers who might miss their brothers and sisters at school. When it gets close to Christmas, we stop gathering until after New Years.

Coffee and tea are available for the adults and juice is provided for the children. A delicious assortment of cookies is always available courtesy of those adults attending.

For more information or to volunteer to bring cookies for a week, contact Pat Lindsey.
