Munster United Church Photographs - Building

The following gives you a glimpse of the interior and exterior of our building.
![]() A welcoming view of our communion table at Thanksgiving time with the grain, the bread, and the grape. An invitation to worship with us and to give thanks for all with which we have been blessed. |
|
![]() |
One of our beautiful and interesting stain glass windows.
This one in loving memory of Samuel and Minnie Hill. |
![]() |
Another of the windows near the front entrance. This
one is particularly interesting because it includes images of people representing
many races in our world. |
![]() |
A more modern design of Christ Jesus praying. It
employs more pastel colours than colours in window designs earlier in
the 20th century. This window was donated by Lillian, Keith, and Clifton
Hobbs in loving memory of Joshua & Maude Hobbs, Elwin & Lila Hobbs,
and Clarence Hobbs. |
![]() |
The most recent window added is a beautiful pastoral
scene with trees of different types, hills, mountains, a lake, a stream,
rocks, and flowers. This window expresses so much and exudes warmth to
the viewer when the sun shines through directly from behind. It is in
loving memory of Robert W. J. Clarke. |

Moving outside, we see the church building from the
northwest from the lot of the old school house. Our banner announcing
our 180th anniversary is seen on our ramp. The ramp, for which the materials
were donated by the Loyal Orange Lodge of Munster and installed with the
labour of the members of the congregation, provides access to the sanctuary
by those with limited mobility. The bell in our tower rings at the start of each Sunday service and on special occasions such as weddings. Our side entrance to the lower hall is seen to the left. On the right side, around the corner is our Memorial Garden. |
![]() |
This view shows the south side of the church and
property. The right side entrance is more clearly visible here. The portion
of the church structure that extends out from the main part of the building
is the the choir loft. We have a full basement level underneath that includes
a kitchen for suppers and catering. |
![]() |
Above the main entrance doors we have a descending
dove stain glass window. When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf." (Gen 8:11) Given to the glory of God by Muriel Trimble April 1999 |
![]() |
Across the front of the building we have a lilac tree
and a garden that adds colour. |
![]() |
On the right side across the front are flowering
shrubs that add colour and fullness. |
![]() |
The peak of the front extension of the building,
above the main stain glass window, holds the 'cornerstone' with the date
of construction of our church . While almost the entire job of construction
took place in 1894, the building was re-opened and dedicated in January
1985. A remarkable achievement by many dedicated members of the congregation
after the devastating fire of 1894. |
